Yemen’s Ambassador Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with West Java Deputy Governor

Bandung: As part of his visit to West Java Province, Yemen’s Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Ambassador Salem Ahmed Balfakeeh, met with West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between Yemen and the province in the economic, trade, educational, cultural, and tourism sectors, in the presence of a number of officials and specialists from the provincial government. During the meeting, Ambassador Balfakeeh briefed the Deputy Governor on developments in Yemen. The two sides also discussed ways to promote trade exchange, strengthen communication between the private sector and business communities, and introduce Yemeni products while exploring opportunities for their access to the West Java market. The two sides further discussed enhancing cooperation between universities and educational institutions and expanding opportunities for scholarships and academic exchanges. They also explored cultural cooperation with the city of Bandung, given its historic significance as the host of the 1955 Asian-African Conference, as well as the importance of participating in events organized by the city to commemorate this historic occasion, particularly in view of Yemen’s status as one of the founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement. The meeting also addressed opportunities for cooperation in tourism. Both sides underscored the importance of continued coordination and efforts to translate the proposed areas of cooperation into practical programs and initiatives that serve the mutual interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples.
