Ambassador Salem Balfakeeh Visits Al-Irsyad Islamic Association Branch in Bandung, Discusses Strengthening Cooperation

Bandung: Ambassador Salem Ahmed Balfakeeh visited the Al-Irsyad Islamic Association branch in Bandung on Friday, August 7, 2026, where he met with a number of the Association’s leaders and members, most of whom are of Yemeni descent. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen communication and cooperation in the educational, cultural, and social fields, and to build on the historic ties between the Yemeni and Indonesian peoples to further consolidate cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Balfakeeh also briefed the participants on developments in Yemen and the latest developments there, including the recent escalation and surprise attacks involving missiles and drones carried out by the terrorist Houthi group against a number of positions of the Yemeni Armed Forces in the governorates of Marib and Hadramout. He affirmed that such actions undermine peace efforts and threaten security and stability. The Ambassador commended the educational and social role played by the Al-Irsyad Islamic Association, stressing the importance of strengthening communication with the Association and building on the shared historical and cultural ties between Yemen and Indonesia. The Association’s officials welcomed the Ambassador’s visit and affirmed their commitment to strengthening communication and cooperation with the Embassy in areas of mutual interest.
