Ambassador Salem Balfakeeh and UNHCR Representative Discuss the Situation of Yemeni Refugees in Indonesia

His Excellency Ambassador Salem Ahmed Balfakeeh received Ms Emily Bojovic, Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Indonesia, on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, at the Embassy’s premises in Jakarta. During the meeting, Ambassador Balfakeeh was briefed on the mandate of UNHCR and the challenges it faces, particularly in light of limited financial resources and the resulting impact on assistance programmes provided to refugees. The meeting also addressed the situation of Yemeni refugees in Indonesia, the challenges they face, and ways to strengthen coordination between the Indonesian authorities and UNHCR, with a view to ensuring decent living conditions and meeting their basic needs.
