Ambassador Salem Balfakeeh Heads Yemen’s Delegation at the Signing of an MoU Between the Yemeni and Indonesian Chambers of Commerce

His Excellency Ambassador Salem Ahmed Balfakeeh headed Yemen’s delegation today, Friday, 17 October 2025, at the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FYCCI) and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). The ceremony was held at Menara KADIN, the headquarters of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jakarta, on the sidelines of the 40th Trade Expo Indonesia 2025, held at the ICE BSD exhibition centre in Tangerang. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on behalf of the Yemeni side by Sheikh Abubakr Salem Ahmed Baobaid, Vice President of the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Aden Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was signed on behalf of the Indonesian side by Mr Bernardino Vega, Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Rashid Qasim Mohammed Hazeb, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the Business Services Sector; Ms Gharam Ali Abdullah Aman, Director-General of International Trade Relations at the Ministry; and Mr Taha Al-Saqqaf, Vice Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Wadi Hadramout, in addition to a number of Yemeni business leaders. The Indonesian side was represented by His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Erzan Johan, Indonesia’s non-resident Ambassador to Yemen; Mr Mohammed Baوزير, Chairman of the Middle East and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Committee at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN); and several senior officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Trade and KADIN, along with representatives of public- and private-sector institutions. Ambassador Balfakeeh affirmed that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding marks a new milestone in the development of economic and trade relations between Yemen and Indonesia. He noted that this step crowns Yemen’s official participation in Trade Expo Indonesia 2025 and reflects the commitment of both sides to building effective partnerships that serve the mutual interests of the two friendly countries. Ambassador Balfakeeh also praised the distinguished level of bilateral relations and the strong interest demonstrated by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) in developing cooperation with Yemen. He reaffirmed the commitment to continuing efforts to develop and expand economic and investment cooperation, as well as to strengthen communication between public- and private-sector institutions in both countries.
