Ambassador Salem Balfakeeh Discusses Procedures for Transferring Yemeni Prisoners from Indonesia to Complete Their Sentences in Yemen

As part of ongoing efforts to follow up on the affairs of Yemeni citizens in Indonesia, His Excellency Ambassador Salem Ahmed Balfakeeh received Mr I Nyoman Gede Surya Mataram, Deputy for Coordination of Immigration and Correctional Affairs, and an accompanying technical delegation from the Coordinating Ministry for Legal Affairs and Human Rights, at his office at the Embassy on Thursday, 2 April 2026. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the outcomes of Ambassador Balfakeeh’s meeting with His Excellency Dr Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Coordinating Minister, and discussed the practical measures required to implement the understandings reached. These measures are intended to facilitate the transfer of Yemeni citizens serving sentences in Indonesian correctional institutions to Yemen, where they would complete the remaining terms of their sentences. The meeting also addressed a number of issues of mutual interest and ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the relevant fields.
