Ambassador Salem Balfakeeh Discusses Developments in Yemen with President of Indonesia’s Prosperous Justice Party

His Excellency Ambassador Salem Ahmed Balfakeeh met today, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with Dr. Haji Al-Muzammil Yusuf, President of Indonesia’s Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and a member of the House of Representatives, along with a number of the party’s leaders, to discuss developments in Yemen and ways to strengthen the historic relations and political, parliamentary, and educational cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Balfakeeh briefed the meeting on the recent Houthi attacks using ballistic missiles and drones against Armed Forces camps in Marib and Hadramout, as well as the civilian port of Al-Mokha. He noted that these attacks represent an escalation that threatens peace efforts and the security of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab, while further exacerbating the suffering of the Yemeni people. He emphasized the important role of Indonesian political and parliamentary forces in supporting the legitimate Yemeni government and conveying an accurate account of developments in Yemen. The two sides also discussed expanding scholarship opportunities for Yemeni students and strengthening coordination regarding Indonesian students studying in Yemen. For his part, Dr. Al-Muzammil Yusuf affirmed the depth of the historic and civilizational relations between the two countries, expressing his party’s support for the internationally recognized legitimate Yemeni government. He also expressed his readiness to coordinate with the party’s parliamentary bloc to brief the Indonesian Parliament and Government on the realities and latest developments in Yemen. The two sides agreed to maintain communication and coordination, exchange information, and explore areas of cooperation that serve the interests of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
