العنوان بالإنجليزية: Ambassador Balfaqih Discusses Developments in Yemen and Voluntary Return Programs with IOM Chief of Mission

H.E. Ambassador Salem Ahmed Balfaqih met on Monday, 21 September 2026, with Mr. Jeffrey Labovitz, Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Indonesia, in the presence of several IOM officials. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Embassy and IOM, particularly with regard to Yemeni nationals wishing to voluntarily return to Yemen, as well as facilitating their return and reintegration in accordance with relevant United Nations principles and resolutions. The meeting also reviewed the latest developments in Yemen and the implications of recent developments in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab for the security and safety of international navigation and global trade. Ambassador Balfaqih emphasized the importance of supporting the Yemeni Government in its efforts to restore state institutions and exercise sovereignty over its territory, ports, and territorial waters, thereby contributing to security and stability in Yemen and the wider region. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of maintaining communication and coordination and further strengthening areas of mutual cooperation.
